Peace One Day Press Conference – 18th March

Next Tuesday, 18 March, just before the six-month countdown to Peace Day, we will be holding a press conference in Goma, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The press conference will launch our 2014 campaign in the DRC and the Great Lakes region of Africa, for Peace Day, 21 September.

This will be the biggest press conference we have held to date. Joining me to make statements of practical support for the campaign will be Mary Robinson (the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region of Africa), the DRC Minister of Education, H.E. Mr. Maker Famba Mwangu, country representative of UNICEF Mrs. Barbara Bentein, UNHCR Regional Representative Stefano Severe, Marie Coutin, Country Director of Search for Common Ground, and UNHCR Award Winner Sister Angélique Namaika from the DRC faith community, alongside other key national figures and youth representatives.

There will also be an inspiring announcement via satellite from New York.

Wherever you are in the world on Tuesday 18 March you can watch the press conference live at 4.00pm local time/2.00pm GMT via the following link:
